Shirley Hunt's Story

Shirley is known as the “Smiler”, due to her happy personality and positive outlook on life.  She is from Preston, Lancashire, UK and has 2 children now 24 and 22. Shirley also works full time as a Mental Health Nurse. She has no background in sport but says, “I was ok at hockey at school, but living in the UK the matches were cancelled a lot due to the rain and the grass being waterlogged”.  Shirley talks us through her life journey of having no sporting history, to recently coming 2nd in her 7th Ironman.

Elizabeth Model's Story

Elizabeth works full time as a CEO in a growing business organization.  Her roles are Economic Development, Government relations, advocacy and marketing.  On an average she works 60 hours a week, which includes numerous events and appointments on weekends.  This year, Elizabeth turned 60 and has done 96 Ironmans with 3 more planned for 2019. She will do her 100th Ironman in South Africa, March 2020. She is the first woman to complete every Ironman in the world. Marian Hutchings Story

Growing up in New Zealand and living next door to a horseracing track, it made sense that Marian developed her love for horses from a very early age.
